Today, as "influencer marketing" is the new buzz, any entrepreneur and thought leader needs to establish a genuine connection with their target audience - and the best way to measure your effectiveness at it is your online growth and conversion rates.
social media alone is a dead-end
It's not enough to just engage with your audience on social media because you have no control on the outcome. A social media presence should be in addition to a content strategy (see my thoughts about that here) as well as mailing list influencer marketing.
To close the loop, make sure that you have a clear opt-in modal on your blog/home page (all platforms like weebly and wordpress have plugins like popupally and I've posted the code for a great javascript pop-up modal on github. Your mailing list will grow organically as you engage with your subscribers, you may offer an ethical bribe, such as a free ebook (always make sure your offering is of value to your target audience) to encourage sign-ups and grow your list faster. Once you have established this, you may promote and engage on social media with always in mind the intent of driving traffic back to your site. influencers have a great photo strategy
First impression is the only impression that matters. So make sure you establish your credibility at the speed of light and have pro shots of yourself and that you populate all your profiles with them. It will cost you but it’s well worth the investment. Next, Instagram is a great way to convey your message visually. It’s the subtle line between genuine testimony and the placement of your product, you. Authenticity in influencer marketing is key and photos are a great way to get there.
clarity is of the essence
Your website is your window to the world, your storefront - so when a new visitor visits your site, you want to make it absolutely crystal clear what you want them to do. Given the level of digital noise today, any ambiguity or complexity and they’ll immediately lose interest and leave. So go back to the basics, no clutter, and of course a very clear call to action above the fold. In addition, make sure all of your content is authentic, with the goal of establishing a true and genuine connection with your audience!
stay focused and on message
Who are you talking to? By trying to talk to everyone, you end up talking to no-one. So for everything that you do, whether it’s your copy, your branding, and even the pictures you use - make sure you set your mind as if you were speaking to one single person. When you do that, everything will become clear and you will build an even stronger connection with your audience.
Use these simple tips everywhere on your site and soon (give it a few months though, remember, digital marketing is long term, never think short time) you will see a clear difference in your engagement and conversion metrics.
